Antique Stores

Many antique stores within close proximity if one another in the downtown area is a shopper's paradise.  Never know what treasures you're likely to find.  Combine Trade Days with the antiques stores and a trip to the mall and you can make a whole weekend of it.  Be sure and check out one of our fine restaurants while in town and maybe plan on spending the night at the Days Inn.   If it's the second Saturday of the month you can drop the husband off at the Bluegrass Show while you're shopping.   Just be sure you got his credit card or a little cash before you let him out.

 Historic Sites

Downtown Arcadia has numerous buildings dating back to the turn of the 20th century, and today many are filled today with antique stores and great restaurants.

Travel two blocks west on North Railroad Avenue and you're at the old post office built in 1937 and still in use today.  It's open seven days a week and features a mural "Cotton Time".  "New Deal" enthusiasts will enjoy that this post office was painted by an artist under the New Deal's Work Project Administration (WPA).  The WPA put thousands of unemployed people to work in the 1930's and 1940's, including artists and writers.  This is a stunning example of their work.
